Deadlines

Vantage Moving

  • Local and in-state moves: report loss, damage or an overcharge in writing within 15 calendar days of your move date.
  • Concealed damage inside boxes our crew packed: report within 15 days of delivery.
  • Interstate moves: report within 15 days so we can inspect while details are fresh, and file your formal written claim within 9 months of delivery, as federal law requires. See interstate claims below.

VantageClean

  • Inspect the property and report any damage or loss in writing within 48 hours after the cleaning is complete, with photos and a description of the item.

What to send

  • Your name, phone number, email, and move or service date.
  • Photos of the damage, plus a wider photo showing where the item is.
  • A short description of each item, including make or model if you know it.
  • Anything else that helps, like a receipt or repair estimate.

Please keep the item

Do not throw away, move, or repair a damaged item until we have had the chance to inspect it. Disposing of or repairing an item before inspection can prevent us from approving the claim.

How we review a claim

  • We confirm we received your report within 24–48 hours.
  • Our office reviews the crew’s notes and job photos and talks with the crew who handled your job.
  • We may inspect the item in person or through an adjuster, and we choose the repair company when a repair is the remedy.

Coverage on moves

What we pay depends on the valuation level on your moving paperwork. Valuation is the mover’s liability for your belongings. It is not insurance. On local and in-state moves, unless you chose and paid for a higher level in writing before the move, the standard level is Released Value: $0.60 per pound, per item. On interstate moves, Full Value Protection applies unless you waived it in writing on your estimate and chose Released Value instead. See Valuation and Damage Claims Explained.

  • Items inside boxes you packed yourself are not covered for internal breakage unless the box shows clear outside damage that happened while we had it.
  • Your signed estimate, bill of lading and service agreement control your claim. This page is a summary.

Interstate claims (moves across state lines)

Interstate moves follow federal rules (49 U.S.C. 14706 and 49 CFR Part 1005), and our tariff. Here is how your claim works:

  1. Note damage at delivery on the delivery receipt or inventory, if you can see it.
  2. Tell us within 15 days with photos, so we can inspect while the evidence is fresh. Upload here.
  3. File your formal written claim within 9 months of delivery. List each item, what happened, and the amount you are claiming.
  4. We acknowledge your claim within 30 days and pay, deny, or make a firm settlement offer in writing within 120 days.
  5. If you disagree, you can request arbitration. For claims of $10,000 or less, we must participate if you request it. Details are in your bill of lading and our tariff. You also keep the right to go to court.

Valuation on interstate moves. Full Value Protection means we repair the item, replace it with one of like kind and quality, or pay its replacement cost, up to the declared value of your shipment. If you waived it in writing, Released Value pays $0.60 per pound, per item. Read Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, which we provide with every interstate estimate, and our interstate disclosures.
