Had a bad experience with a moving company, especially on an out-of-state move? We are sorry, and we want to help you get answers, even if it was not us. Several unrelated companies use the name “Vantage.” This page shows you how to confirm who moved you, what your rights are under federal law, and exactly where to report a problem so it gets action.
Step 1: Was your move with us?
Pull out your estimate, bill of lading, or receipt. Every mover licensed for interstate moves must print its USDOT number on them. Ours are:
- USDOT
- 3408792
- MC
- 1360776
- Office
- 10673 W Lake Hazel Rd, Boise, ID
- Phone
- 208-740-1291
- Website
- vantagemoving.com
It was not us if any of these are true:
- Your paperwork shows a different USDOT or MC number, or no number at all.
- A broker or booking company sold you the move and a different company showed up. We are not a broker or a van line. Our own crews and trucks do every move, and we never hand your move to another company.
- You were told to pay a new, larger amount before your belongings were loaded or unloaded.
- You were asked to pay by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or a payment app to a personal name. We never accept those.
- The company is not based in Idaho.
Vantage Moving Solutions, LLC is not affiliated with any other company using the “Vantage” name. You can confirm our registration yourself on the Licensing and Registrations page. Still unsure? Call Vantage Moving customer service, 208-740-1291 (Monday–Friday 7am–7pm, Saturday–Sunday 9am–5pm Mountain) with your name and move date, or upload your paperwork and we will tell you whether it is ours.
Step 2: Not us? Where to report a mover
We cannot act on another company’s move, but these agencies can. Every report goes on the record, and complaints can trigger a federal investigation.
Moves across state lines (interstate)
- Look up the mover. Search the USDOT or MC number from your paperwork in the FMCSA Registered Mover Database or on FMCSA SAFER.
- File a federal complaint in the FMCSA National Consumer Complaint Database, or call 1-888-368-7238. How FMCSA complaints work.
- Belongings held for more money, or suspected fraud? Report it to the U.S. DOT Inspector General hotline: 1-800-424-9071 or hotline@oig.dot.gov. If you feel unsafe or believe a crime is happening, call local police.
- Also report it to the Better Business Bureau and your state attorney general’s consumer protection office.
Moves within one state
- FMCSA generally does not handle moves that stay inside one state. Contact that state’s attorney general. In Idaho: Idaho Attorney General consumer complaint forms.
After your move: your rights under federal law
On an interstate move, federal rules protect you. Whoever your mover was, these apply:
- Delivery price limits. On a binding estimate, the mover cannot demand more than the binding price at delivery, except for added services you agreed to in writing. On a non-binding estimate, the mover cannot demand more than 110% of the estimate at delivery; any remainder is billed later.
- Damage or loss claims. File a written claim with the mover within 9 months of delivery. The mover must acknowledge it within 30 days and pay, deny, or make a firm offer within 120 days.
- Disputes. Interstate movers must offer an arbitration program. For claims of $10,000 or less, the mover must agree to arbitrate if you request it.
- Lawsuits. You can sue the mover. Court papers are served on the mover’s registered process agent in your state.

Before you hire any mover
Most moving problems start before moving day. The federal government’s free Protect Your Move resources show you what to check:

Our checklist: get a written estimate, confirm the USDOT number matches the company that will show up, know whether your price is binding, ask what valuation level you are getting, and never sign blank or incomplete paperwork.
It was us? Let us make it right
