Vantage Moving: how valuation works

$/lb

Valuation is not insurance. It is the most we are responsible for if an item is lost or damaged while we handle it.

It is figured by weight, not by what you paid or what the item means to you. A heavy item and a light item with the same price can have very different limits.

You choose your level before the move starts. Your signed paperwork shows the level you chose, and crew members cannot change it on moving day.

The four levels

Standard · no extra cost

Released Value

$0.60 /lb per item
  • No deductible
  • Automatic unless you upgrade in writing
Upgrade

Enhanced

$6.00 /lb per item
  • Or repair / like-kind replacement, whichever is less
  • $250 deductible per claim
  • $50,000 shipment limit
Upgrade

Full Value

Market value
  • We repair, replace like-kind, or pay depreciated value
  • $500 deductible per claim
  • $100,000 shipment limit
Custom

Excess

$100k+ declared
  • Written rider signed 72+ hours before the move
  • Deductible set in the rider

Example: the same 100 lb dresser at each level

100 lb dresser Market value $1,200 Destroyed in transit What you would receive Released Value $60100 lb × $0.60 Enhanced $350$600 limit − $250 deductible Full Value $700$1,200 value − $500 deductible = deductible

100 lb dresser, market value $1,200, destroyed in transit. What you would receive:

Released Value
$60 · 100 lb × $0.60
Enhanced
$350 · $600 limit − $250 deductible
Full Value
$700 · $1,200 value − $500 deductible

If the same dresser only needed a $200 professional repair, Enhanced Valuation would cover the repair, because repair costs less than the $600 limit. Under Released Value, the most for this dresser is still $60.

VantageClean: how damage claims work

48 HOURS

Cleaning is different from moving. There is no per-pound valuation. If our work damages something, we look at what actually happened and choose a fair remedy.

Walk through within 48 hours. Report any damage or loss in writing within 48 hours after your cleaning is complete, with photos and a description of the item.

The same 48-hour window applies to a touch-up request if something wasn’t cleaned to standard.

Cleaning reveals. It doesn’t cause.

Dirt, grease, soap scum and buildup can hide wear that was already there. When that layer comes off, older damage becomes visible. We are not responsible for conditions like these:

Before cleaning Buildup hides what’s underneath After cleaning old crackold stainchip Pre-existing wear is now visible

How we make it right

For an accepted claim, VantageClean chooses the reasonable remedy:

RepairProfessional restorationComparable replacementService creditPayment

Value is based on the item’s age, condition, depreciation and repair cost. It is not based on sentimental value or the price of a brand-new item. If we replace an item or pay its full adjusted value, the damaged item becomes ours.

Please let us inspect before any non-emergency repair or disposal. Emergency steps to stop more damage are fine, but keep the evidence.

Before we arrive

CashJewelry and watchesFirearmsMedicationIDs and keysImportant papersCollectibles and art

Put these away before your cleaning. Tell us about anything fragile, rare or high-value. VantageClean does not take custody of valuables and may skip areas where they’re left out.

We don’t connect, disconnect or repair electronics.

If you can’t find something

Start with a missing-item report. Tell us what the item is, where and when you last saw it, and who else had access. We’ll look into it with our team first.

If you believe something was stolen, report it to local police, generally within 48 hours, and send us the agency, report number and officer name. We cooperate fully with law enforcement. Customers may not search our team members, vehicles or belongings.

Good-faith reports are always welcome, even if they can’t be proven. Knowingly false accusations may end service and can carry legal consequences.
